Batteryguard
With Batteryguard safe storage and charging solutions
More and more e-bike and tool batteries are catching fire spontaneously during charging, resulting in intense and nearly unstoppable fires. In some cases, the batteries even explode!
Batteryguard contains battery fires within the safe, preventing potential premises fires. Our battery cabinet doubles as a battery charging solution and secure safe, equipped with sturdy hinges, fittings, and locked doors to ensure containment in case of a battery fire.
Batteryguard has been tested with lithium-ion batteries and offers proven safety.
The risk of lithium-ion batteries
Tested with lithium-ion batteries by MPA Dresden.
As we rely more on battery-powered tools and modes of transport such as electric bicycles and e-choppers, which are powered by lithium-ion batteries, we benefit from their increased power and longer lifespan. While this is a positive development, it also comes with significant risks.
Dropping a battery can cause internal damage, potentially leading to fire or even explosion during charging.
A battery fire is a highly intense and uncontrollable fire that occurs within a lithium-ion battery. These fires are extremely difficult to extinguish because they result from a chemical chain reaction inside the battery, causing it to become extremely hot. The fire spreads rapidly and is exceptionally dangerous. The smoke and gases released during a battery fire are highly toxic, and in some cases, the battery may even explode. The risk is most significant during the charging process.
A battery fire doesn’t spontaneously ignite. It typically begins when the battery has been dropped, damaging one of its cells. This damage can lead to a short circuit, causing the battery to overheat during charging. Compounding the issue is the fact that external inspection often fails to reveal any visible signs of damage to the battery.
What leads to battery fires?
Always store your batteries in a battery cabinet! In the event of a battery overheating during charging, a battery cabinet contains any fire and explosion, preventing it from spreading to your premises.
E-bikeaccu.nl learned this firsthand when a bike battery caught fire during charging while nobody was present in the warehouse. Fortunately, the battery was stored in a Batteryguard battery safe, averting a potential disaster.
